Dr. Torke’s research focuses on ethical, communication and spiritual aspects of medical decision making for older adults. Her current research focuses on surrogate decision making for older adults with dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment.  

Dr. Torke is interested in the ethical and communication aspects of medical decision making. She conducts research on patients’ preferences for end-of-life care and currently focuses on surrogate decision making, or making major medical decisions for patients with dementia, delirium or other conditions that impair cognitive function.

Dr. Alexia Torke’s research focuses on ethical aspects of medical decision making for older adults, including advance care planning and surrogate decision making for older adults with dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment.
